castlevania series

Below is a project depicting three of the Castlevania protagonists in the poses of famous statues. These were done as a collective series and are meant to be displayed as a group. The locations are referenced from each corresponding game the hero is a part of, and each location and hero was chosen to create a triadic color scheme across all three illustrations.

Each statue was chosen for its heroic significance and tied with a heroic Belmont to complete the piece!

Simon Belmont is one of the main faces of the Castlevania series. The background location was loosely inspired by the beginning cutscene of Super Castlevania IV and the final staircase to Dracula in the original Castlevania game.

His pose is referenced from the statue of Saint Michael slaying the Devil.

Juste Belmont is from Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (my favorite Castlevania game)! The location picked is the Skeleton Caves. It is a desolate, castle dungeon-like area littered with... well, bones! The color palette in this area was originally warmer yellows and greens, but to fit the theme of this project, I shifted the colors to a sickly green.

His pose is referenced from the Bernini Angel statue.

Richter Belmont is arguably the most popular protagonist in the Castlevania series. The design for him chosen was his appearance in the game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. The Background was lifted from a segment in the game with a burning city.

The statue chosen as a reference is the statue of Perseus with the Head of Medusa.

Medusa Heads are a staple enemy in all Castlevania games. They are a flying enemy that appears in hordes that fly across the screen in hopes of knocking the character into danger. Because of this, it was only fitting to use this statue in the series.
